Re-Branding of Charlotte County Hospitals Officially Begins
Charlotte Regional Medical Center and Peace River Regional Medical Center are now Bayfront Health
New Network to Provide Multiple Benefits to Gulf Coast Residents
Charlotte County, FL (January 15, 2014) – Along with the New Year comes a new name for two Charlotte County hospitals. Last year, officials at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, and Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte announced the hospitals were becoming part of Bayfront Health. Bayfront Health is a newly-created regional network of seven Health Management hospitals stretching 150 miles along the I-75 corridor, from Brooksville in the north to Punta Gorda in the south. The new health network was created to improve patient care by providing a complete continuum of services for Gulf Coast residents.
Locally, the two Bayfront Health hospitals will continue to provide state-of –the-art, comprehensive services to the community. “Technology like da Vinci and MAKO robotics, along with the highest level of cardiovascular services (including chest pain centers), stroke care, orthopedics including spine and joint academies, behavioral health, and the area’s only obstetric and pediatric services, are what area residents have come to depend upon our hospitals to provide,” said Richard Satcher, Market President for Bayfront Health in Charlotte County.
Area residents will soon begin seeing the re-branding of these two hospitals as new signage and billboards begin to replace those with the previous names. Hospital websites will be converted to Bayfront Health: www.bayfrontportcharlotte.com and www.bayfrontpuntagorda.com.
“Within a two-hour radius, we have a unified health system that reinforces the sharing of knowledge, clinical protocols, medical records and technology, which results in better outcomes for our patients,” said Satcher. “The creation of this unified health network presents a myriad of opportunities for our hospitals, our dedicated staff and physicians, as well as multiple benefits for area residents.”
As Bayfront Health becomes a truly integrated system, patients will have the benefit of choosing the facility and physician that best meets their medical needs. There will be seamless transitions from meeting with a specialist to a hospital stay, making it a better experience overall for both doctor and patient. This resulting synergy between physicians and hospital staff will also improve the quality of care provided at all of the healthcare facilities.
Each hospital will take Bayfront Health as its name to make it easier for the community to identify the facilities in the Bayfront Health network. The seven hospitals in the network include:
- Bayfront Health Brooksville (previously Brooksville Regional Hospital)
- Bayfront Health Dade City (previously Pasco Regional Medical Center)
- Bayfront Health Port Charlotte (previously Peace River Regional Medical Center)
- Bayfront Health Punta Gorda (previously Charlotte Regional Medical Center)
- Bayfront Health Spring Hill (previously Spring Hill Regional Hospital)
- Bayfront Health St. Petersburg (previously Bayfront Medical Center)
- Venice Regional Medical Center, Bayfront Health
“We want our patients to know that wherever they are in the Bayfront Health network, they will be receiving expert, quality care,” added José Morillo, CEO of Bayfront Health Punta Gorda. “The strength of Bayfront Health is the experience of the nearly 6,100 professionals who dedicate themselves every day to delivering quality health care.”
Bayfront Health, a newly created healthcare network of seven hospitals along Florida’s Gulf Coast, is committed to caring for more than 66,000 inpatients, 202,000 ER visits, nearly 57,000 surgeries and more than 500,000 outpatient visits each year. Additional benefits of the network include transfer agreements in the areas of trauma, pediatrics, stroke, cardiac, OB, NICU and mental health services, to name a few; residency and other educational and training opportunities for medical staff; and the establishment of specialty service line centers in the areas of epilepsy and robotic surgery.
