PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (March 1, 2016) – Bayfront Health is extending National Heart Month with a final event to raise awareness and funds for the American Heart Association (AHA). On March 9, Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar, 201 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, will donate a portion of proceeds earned from 5 p.m. to close to the AHA.
As a self-described “community focused restaurant and family establishment,” Leroy’s Southern Kitchen & Bar is a fitting location to raise funds for an organization whose goal is to help communities and families live healthier, longer lives to enjoy life’s moments.
The AHA is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. It aims to improve the lives of all Americans through public education and funding scientific research, and wants everyone to understand that cardiovascular diseases and stroke are largely preventable. Risks can be lowered by: not smoking, being physically active, maintaining a healthy body weight, eating a healthy diet, controlling blood pressure, controlling cholesterol and controlling blood sugar.
Enjoy a dinner of sustainable farm-to-table freshness and Southern hospitality on March 9 while tapping your foot to live music from country singer-songwriter Robb Brooks, and help the AHA continue to educate and provide research on the number one killer in the world, heart disease.
