PUNTA GORDA, FL (January 30, 2013) – The public is invited to attend the following February events hosted by Bayfront Health Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda (formerly Peace River and Charlotte Regional Medical Centers):

February: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.                      

Pantyhose-Free Zone 2014 Women’s Expo          

Cultural Center of Charlotte County, 2280 Aaron Street, Port Charlotte

Gives mothers, daughters, and girlfriends a chance to reconnect during a day of shopping, pampering, makeovers and educational opportunities. There will be over 100 professionals – with expertise in fashion and beauty, health and fitness, finance, travel, education, art and more – in attendance selling, demonstrating, pampering and giving away a bouquet of products and services. Admission is free.

February 4: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.                      

HealthFair Mobile Screening

Publix, 1291 S. Sumter Boulevard, North Port

Bayfront Health has partnered with HealthFair to combat cardiovascular disease by offering cost effective and convenient mobile health screenings. The HealthFair bus is a self-contained mobile unit that provides participants access to ultrasound tests of the heart and arteries, which go beyond what is offered at a typical physician exam. These in-depth and painless tests check for abnormalities that can lead to stroke, heart attack, and aneurysm, and all test results are reviewed by a board-certified physician and available within 7-10 days. Putting Hearts Front and Center with the MEGA Heart

The MEGA Heart provides visitors with a highly interactive educational experience about America’s No. 1 killer: Heart disease. Visitors can step inside the human heart, learn about cardiovascular functions, observe examples of various types of heart disease, and see displays explaining some of the latest medical treatments for heart problems. Ride Your Heart Out Poker Run to Benefit the American Cancer Society

Bayfront Health is revving up for their first annual Rider Your Heart Out Poker Run. The ride kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at Bayfront Health Punta Gorda, ends at Black Widow Harley Davidson, and includes four stops along the way. All motorcycles are welcome to participate. $25 to ride and $15 for passengers, which includes a poker hand and BBQ lunch. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.
