Punta Gorda, FL (September 5, 2012) - The August 31st Tarpon Charlotte High School game against North Port High School was an exciting home-season opening win for the Tarpons.
According to Coach Binky Waldrop, Senior Clyde Newton was a crucial factor in this win, having 21 carries with 218 yards, two touchdowns, and eight tackles. Because of this, Newton was named “ER Extra Player of the Game.”
Each home game of the season, Charlotte Regional will name one Charlotte High football player as the “ER Extra Player of the Game.”
“Since Charlotte High football is known for its tradition, we thought it would be nice to continue this tradition we started three years ago,” said José Morillo, CEO of Charlotte Regional Medical Center. “After each home game, we award one player the ‘ER Extra Player of the Game’ trophy to congratulate him for his ‘extra great’ contribution to the team during that game.”
Congratulations to Tarpon Running Back/Linebacker, Clyde Newton, “ER Extra’s Player of the Game” for August 31, 2012!
