Assisting to Send Kids Back to School with the Supplies They Need

Bayfront Health Port Charlotte Staff Make Donations

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (August 15, 2014) – During the month of July, Bayfront Health Port Charlotte collected school supply items and backpacks for children ages 4 to 18, and on Monday, August 4th, staff came together to assemble the items for a total of 58 backpacks.

From crayons and colored pencils, to rulers, paper and notebooks, each backpack was filled with the essentials needed for children at each grade level.  This campaign was sparked by the desire to assist a local family services program so that the children would have everything they needed to start their school year off right.

“I would like to thank everyone that purchased items for this back to school campaign and to those who helped put the packs together,” said Liz Cowart, RN, emergency department clinical coordinator and campaign organizer.  “The response was overwhelming.  Not only did the staff meet the needs of the 39 children from the local program, but there was enough left over to also help support 19 of Bayfront Health Port Charlotte’s own.”
