The Health Care Volunteers of Bayfront Health Port Charlotte’s mission is to promote the health and welfare of individuals within the Charlotte County area community. With this in mind, the organization has donated to this project for the past six years to assist Sunrise Kiwanis in fulfilling the shoe needs for schools in the Charlotte County Public School System.
“The Kiwanis Shoes for Kids Project is sincerely appreciative of the generosity and support provided by Bayfront Health and the Auxiliary,” said Christy Smith, project coordinator. “Over the last 6 years the Auxiliary has provided new tennis shoes for over 700 children in the Charlotte County Public School System. Some of the students receiving these shoes have never had their own new pair of sneakers. The Auxiliary members not only provide a new pair of sneakers, they are also promoting a healthy lifestyle for our local children; properly fitting sneakers are a key for children as they grow both physically and emotionally. The confidence and self esteem boost that a new pair of tennis shoes provides is immeasurable. Bayfront Health staff and the Auxiliary are a blessing to the Kiwanis Shoes for Kids Project.”
